GambleAware has published new recommendations intentional to reduce the stigma and favoritism experienced by people who struggle with gambling.

In a “scoping study,” Dr Anne Stangl, Triantafyllos Pliakas and Mariana Siapka found that a “significant amount” of published research on play harm uses “stigmatising language.”

The researchers analysed evidence on stigma, secernment and play from 54 case-by-case studies and 9 reexamine papers spanning 19 countries.

Based on their findings, they made several recommendations for “further research, service of process provision, insurance policy and media campaigns.” Chiefly, the account offers guidelines on what language to usage and non to utilize when discussing play harm.
